What Lutherans Believe?
People mean a lot of things by this question and there are different Lutheran church bodies in the world (not all of them believe the same thing). However, we'll answer the question by what we at Trinity in Traverse City, MI believe, teach and confess.

About the Bible
The Bible is the Word of God. It's the basis of all we do. We believe in plenary verbal inspiration. That means that we believe that every word that the original Biblical authors of Scripture wrote was inspired by Word of God and is the source of all we teach. Our worship services are liturgical, meaning most every word we say during the service is a quote, paraphrase or explanation of the Scripture.

About God
We believe God is "the Holy Trinity". The Scripture shows us that God is The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit (for example, Mt. 28:19). These are three individual persons, but in a way that we do not completely understand, those three persons are one God. God is the creator of all things and lived prior to the creation of all things. He is our creator as well.
