THE REV. DONALD V. ENGEBRETSON
Pastor Engebretson, who was born in Pasadena, California on December 27, 1960, spent most of his formative growing years in central Wisconsin. After receiving his bachelor’s degree from Concordia College in St. Paul, MN in 1983, he attended Concordia Theological Seminary in Ft. Wayne, Indiana where he received his Master of Divinity degree in the Spring of 1987. After serving his first two parishes in Baldwin (1987-1992) and West Branch (1992-1995), Pastor Engebretson accepted a call to Trinity to serve as an associate pastor in January 1996. When Dr. Gieschen was called to the seminary in Ft. Wayne, he accepted the position as senior pastor, which he held until October 2000. During this time he also served briefly as interim principal of the school during a vacancy in the late 90’s.
Pastor Engebretson is currently serving as pastor of St. Peter Lutheran Church of Polar, Wisconsin, where he has been since 2000 (Polar is a township located 7 miles east of Antigo). He also serves as the circuit counselor for Antigo Circuit #7, to which he was elected in July 2006. For the community at large he serves a three township district as chaplain for the Town of Antigo Volunteer Fire Department (since 2003), and as a committee member for Boy Scout Troop 644.
He has been married to Carol nee McBride of Denver, CO, since September 5, 1987, and has been blessed with three children: Rachel (7-29-89), David (4-19-94), and Rebekah (11-4-00), who was born just before the Engebretsons left Traverse City. His email is: frzeke@dwave.net
