Louis,
Mo.,
graduating
in
1939.
He served as pastor of Mt. Calvary Church, Charlotte, N. C. Messiah Lutheran Church, Columbia, S. C. , Trinity Lutheran Church in Traverse City, Michigan and Trinity Lutheran Church in Jackson, Michigan.
Dr. Krieger served with the 38th Infantry Division ("Avengers of Bataan") in the Pacific Theater, and the Army Of Occupation in Northern Japan. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, and other decorations.
He received an STM in 1947 from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Mo, and a D.D. from Concordia Theological Seminary, Springfield, Ill. in 1963.
Dr. Krieger served as member of the Church's Board of Missions in North, South, and Central America; member of the Church's Commission on Literature; President of the Michigan District 1957-1965; Chairman, Board of Control, Concordia College, Ann Arbor, Michigan; fourth Vice-President of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod from 1965 to 1969; fifth Vice-President of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod from 1972 to 1974; he held several other positions on boards and commissions o f the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.
He was conservative and liturgically-minded. Much of the artwork and tradition of Trinity Lutheran Church, Traverse City, was done under his direction.
He collected crosses from all over the world and at one time was reported to have over 200.
Dr. Krieger was married to Edith nee Krueger and had four children: Gregory (who died in 1998), Stephen, Kathryn, Timothy; three granddaughters: Jennifer (Greg’s daughter), Mary Catherine and Elizabeth (both Steve’s daughters); one great-grandson (Mary Catherine’s son); three brothers and three sisters.
As of this writing, May 19, 2007, his wife, Edith (“Edie”) is still alive and lives in Florida. Her address is 2006 Inner Circle, Oviedo, FL 32765-9712 and the phone is 407-977-5052. She is almost 91!
Pastor Krieger passed away on January 13, 1974 at Jackson, MI and is buried at Botsford Cemetary in Ann Arbor.
