A personal statement of faith is a letter written to an individual or to a group of family members that will be delivered during a time of emergency or upon your death. As part of this planning step, you should make a list of those to whom you would like this letter given. This is different than a Christian preamble to your will because this letter can be given to anyone, not just your heirs. While a personal statement should be personal, written by you. The example on this page is meant to be an idea starter. |

Sample Statement of
Faith
To my dear family and those who care about me,
I want to say that I thank God for you and what you’ve meant to
me. (Here you may mention special people in
your life). To all of those who have helped and befriended me
through the years of my life I thank you.
Goodbyes are very hard to say, but they are much more difficult if
you know that they are final. That is why I commend each of you to the
love of my Savior Jesus Christ. It is my hope and unshakeable faith that
He has delivered me from sin, death and the power of the devil. Even
though I tasted death in this world, I will live eternally with Him. I
know that He has the power and desire to save everyone in the same way
that He has saved me, and I pray that you will please do all that is
necessary to learn about this salvation so that you may be delivered from
death and that I may see you and live with you again.
My church has taught me and supported me in this faith and I
encourage you to speak with (insert the name of
someone who knows the faith well, or one of the Pastors) if you
need strengthening in your faith.
As for me, I am in heaven rejoicing. I have no more sorrow and no
more hardship or pain. This is the gift that Christ has given me through
His death and resurrection. It is the reason I celebrated every Christmas
and Easter. Christ gave me comfort throughout my earthly life. He gave me
gifts of people and things to give me joy. Now Jesus has kept His promise,
“In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told
you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to
be with me that you also may be where I am” (John 14:2-3).
Now, I pray that you will not mourn my passing too deeply, but
share my joy that I am home where I belong. I’m in our Father’s house
where sin and sorrow never enter. Now that I am cleansed from sin and
raised from the dead my love for you is richer and truer than it could
have ever been on earth. God grant us a joyful reunion in His house.
Yours in Christ,
