Music for the Wedding ServiceSince the wedding is a worship service, no strictly secular music will be permitted. This includes, “Here Comes the Bride” (The Bridal Chorus from Lohengrin). Not all music that speaks of God is appropriate either. Only such music as is fitting for the public worship of the Holy Trinity will be permitted and must be approved in advance by the Senior Pastor. Trinity’s Director of Music will be a very helpful resource to you in selecting music that is beautiful, appropriate and worshipful. He is the chief point of contact between you and the congregation’s organists and other musicians. The wedding couple may have outside musicians participate in the service, but this must be done in coordination with Trinity’s music director, who will assure that accompanists, vocalists and instrumentalists are all working together. Trinity does not allow prerecorded music to be used during worship services. The services of God’s house (including weddings) call for the highest expression of praise from the living. A complete listing of acceptable music is impossible, however, these beautiful processionals and recessionals are worth considering as a starting point. A meeting with our Music director will help you pick something while it is being performed on the organ. Canon in D (Pachelbel) Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring (JS Bach) Sheep May Safely Graze (JS Bach) Trumpet Tune in D Major (Henry Purcell) Trumpet Voluntary (Clarke-Purcell) Wachet Auf Ruft die Stimme (JS Bach) The hymns of the church also provide wonderful and appropriate accompaniment to the ceremony and may be sung by the congregation as part of the service.
