Bible Verses for Your Wedding

You are encouraged to look through your Bible and find particularly meaningful verses to be read at your wedding. A standard wedding worship service has three readings:

  1. An Old Testament Reading
  2. A New Testament Epistle Reading
  3. A Gospel Reading

The Pastor can read all three if you would like and given people’s nervousness about reading in public, this may be the best option. However, you may also choose to have “lectors” (friends you choose to read) read the first two lessons. It is Lutheran tradition that the Gospel is always read by the Pastor.

Here are some verses that may get you started. You may want to check out several different translations of your favorites. The Pastor will be happy to assist you in choosing.
